The project is piloting an online groups platform that particularly meets the needs of the community and public health sector. This is a result of feedback from the sector that the development of a common platform would be preferrable to multiple platforms developing.

In the meantime, here is a guide to setting up a discussion group with e-mail list serve as well.
Yahoo! Groups is a free service that allows you to create a discussion forum for any number of people through a web site and email. You don't need to know HTML to create your own site. You can post shared files as well.

Yahoo! Groups offer a convenience, privacy and protection from "spam".

1. Go to Yahoo Groups
and Register
http://groups.yahoo.com/
Click on the Registration Link and follow the instructions.
Write down your password details and remember that your id and password are "case sensitive" so record them with this in mind. If you use capital letters anywhere in the process, remember where you did and did not use them.

2. Start a Group If you've decided that you're ready to take on the responsibilities of a group moderator, then starting a group is really quite easy.

Just click the Start a Group button on any Yahoo! Group page. Follow the instructions for the simple set-up process.

All groups must be properly categorized. To categorize your group, simply browse or search your way through the Yahoo! Groups directory looking for the appropriate category in which to place your group. Look for categories that list similar groups or are specifically related to your subject.

3. Add members to the group When you start a group you can click on the "membership" button to add the e-mails of your members.
